Four findings, in the order they get checked

Wine storage is a small refrigeration system asked to hold a narrow band of temperature and humidity inside a cabinet that usually has almost no air around it. Most faults here are airflow, not compressors.

  1. A choked toe grille and a tired fan

    One zone drifting into the sixties through the afternoon and recovering overnight. Dust, pet hair or a built-in cabinet with no clearance, plus a condenser fan that is no longer moving much air.

  2. A stuck door switch

    The interior lamp and fan keep running with the door shut and quietly heat the cabinet. A small part, and one that gets missed when the diagnosis starts at the compressor.

  3. A rolled-over door seal

    Condensation beading on the inside of the glass through monsoon season. Humid air is being pulled in at the gasket and dropped on the coldest surface in the room.

  4. A damper motor or a drifted probe

    The panel claims fifty-five and a thermometer on the shelf says sixty-two. The probe is trusted over the readout, then the damper is checked before anything is replaced.
